Know Your Numbers

February is American Heart Month — a time to be good to your heart — and knowing your numbers can help.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend knowing key numbers when it comes to your health. When you have your annual physical, make sure you find out your blood pressure, body mass index, blood sugar levels, and cholesterol levels.

Cardiovascular disease is a top cause of death around the globe, according to the World Health Organization. Try the following tips to help protect and take care of your heart:

n Exercise regularly.

n Don’t smoke.

n Skip salt at mealtimes.

n Balance your stress with enjoyable activities.

n Eat more fruits and vegetables.
