DMM Revision: Competitive Post Office Box Service

Effective January 26, 2020, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), section 508.4.5.4a.2, to clarify the requirements for customers who use competitive Post Office Box™ services and receive packages from private carriers.

The Postal Service is amending section 508.4.5.4a.2 to clarify that packages received from private carriers must meet all applicable Postal Service standards governing mailability. This clarification will provide consistency with the customer agreement that must be completed to receive one or more of the competitive PO Box™ service enhancements.

Although the Postal Service will not publish these revisions in the DMM until January 26, 2020, the standards are effective immediately.
