Effective January 26, 2020, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), sections 508.11.3.1 and 508.11.3.3, to modify the standards for customers to change or cancel their Hold Mail service request.
In the article titled “DMM Revision: Hold Mail Service,” published in Postal Bulletin 22531 (10-24-19, pages 11-13), the Postal Service announced that it is revising Chapter 508 to add new section 508.11.0, “Hold Mail Service.” The new section includes sections 508.11.3.1, “Change or Cancel a Request Submitted Online,” and 508.11.3.3, “Change or Cancel a Request Submitted to the Customer Care Center.”
The Postal Service is revising these sections to include the standard that customers who have a Hold Mail confirmation number from an online or Customer Care Center Hold Mail service request have the option to change or cancel the request either online or through the Customer Care Center, regardless of how they originally made the request.
Although the Postal Service will not publish these revisions in the DMM until January 26, 2020, the standards are effective immediately.
