Effective November 21, 2019, the Postal Service™ is revising the Individual Country Listing for United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) to note a change to the Prohibitions section.
This revision rescinds a previous revision published in the article titled “IMM Revision: Individual Country Listing for United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” in Postal Bulletin 22531 (10-24-19, page 13). That article noted the removal of an entry beginning with “Switchblade knives” and adding an entry beginning with “Knives and blades.”
This recension is based on a formal request that Royal Mail Group made through the Universal Postal Union via International Bureau Circular 173, dated November 4, 2019, noting the UK legislation’s postponement of the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 related to knives and blades (which was to be effective November 1, 2019) and reinstating the previous prohibition about knives.
