Effective January 26, 2020, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) to change the official name of “Republic of Macedonia” to “Republic of North Macedonia.” Revisions will occur in the following places: sections 213.5, 292.45, and 322.2; the Index of Countries and Localities; the Country Price Groups and Weight Limits; and the Individual Country Listings.
On May 13, 2019, International Bureau Circular 80 notified Universal Postal Union (UPU) member countries that the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Switzerland informed the UPU that “effective February 14, 2019, the official name of the Union member country is ‘Republic of North Macedonia’ (previously ‘the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’).”
In accordance with the notification from the UPU, the Postal Service will follow suit and will change all references in the IMM to the official name.
