Effective May 4, 2020, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), section 507.11.0, to update the Premium Data Retention and Retrieval Service product name.
The Postal Service is renaming Premium Data Retention and Retrieval Service as USPS Premium Tracking service. The Postal Service intends to ask that the Postal Regulatory Commission rename Premium Data Retention and Retrieval Service as USPS Premium Tracking service in the Mail Classification Schedule.
In addition, the Postal Service will update Notice 123 – Price List to reflect this DMM revision.
Although the Postal Service will not publish this revision in the DMM until May 4, 2020, the change is effective immediately.

11.0 USPS Premium Tracking Service
USPS Premium Tracking service allows customers to request for their packages that the Postal Service retain scan data, or scan and signature data, beyond the Postal Service’s standard data retention period, for up to 10 years. USPS Premium Tracking service is available for commercial packages shipped via Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, First-Class Package Service, Parcel Select, and commercial packages with Adult Signature Services. For Scan and Signature Retention on products other than Priority Mail Express, the customer must have purchased an underlying signature service, such as Signature Confirmation service (see Notice 123 – Price List). Customers can request USPS Premium Tracking service online at usps.com or through a Shipping Services File.
