Web-based Recycling Toolkit Shows What Can be Recycled at Your Location

Have you transferred to a new office and wondered what types of recycling opportunities are available? Or, maybe you want to start a recycling program at your office, but don’t know where to begin. The USPS® National Recycling Operation (NRO) has a new web-based tool to help Post Offices and delivery units start or improve recycling programs at the office.

The Recycling Toolkit (RTK) was developed to help offices recycle paper or discarded lobby mail, cardboard, and clear shrink/stretch wrap. The employee simply enters their ZIP Code™ into the top field, and the RTK shows what can be backhaul recycled to the office’s hub site and what type of mail transport equipment to use.

There are also links to the NRO’s main site, which provides employee talks, training, and videos on office recycling. The RTK is an active tool, and the NRO will continuously add information about recycling more types of items in the future. To visit the Recycling Toolkit, go to blue.usps.gov/sustainability/recycling-toolkit.htm.
