Publication 28 Revision: Postal Addressing Standards

On July 31, 2020, the Postal Service™ revised Publication 28, Postal Addressing Standards, to remove references to older mail processing equipment limitations on the readability of information in the address line. Additional language was updated to include more current address standardization methods and resources.

Revised Publication 28 is now available on Postal Explorer® at pe.usps.com. In the left-hand column under Domestic Mail, see “Postal Addressing Standards (PUB 28).”
