IMM Revision: Individual Country Listing for Hungary

Effective March 11, 2021, the Postal Service™ is revising the Individual Country Listing for Hungary in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) to note that mail items containing plants or seeds sent to Hungary must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the country of origin.

This revision is based on a formal request that Magyar Posta (the designated postal operator of Hungary) made through the Universal Postal Union via International Bureau Circular 12, dated January 18, 2021.

Plants or seeds that originate outside the European Union (EU) must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the country of origin. Hungary will accept a phytosanitary certificate only if it fulfills all of the following requirements: it is issued in at least one of the official languages of the EU; it is addressed to the national plant protection organization of an EU member state; and it has been issued no more than 14 days before the date on which the plants, plant products, or other objects covered by it have left the country in which it was issued.
