May is Military Appreciation Month, as was established by Congress in 1999. For the United States Postal Service®, it stands as a time to recognize the service and sacrifices of the U.S. military veterans in our workforce.
Today, there are approximately 100,000 former active duty service members and current members of the Reserve and National Guard forces employed by the Postal Service™. USPS® is regularly recognized as a top employer of veterans of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps. and Navy, and it is one of the country’s largest civilian employers of military veterans.
This year, the Postal Service will honor the veterans in our ranks with a signed letter of appreciation from Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and a steel tumbler. Veterans who have obtained five years of service with USPS will receive a proud veteran commemorative coin and “Thank you” letter from Chief Human Resources Officer Doug Tulino.
