Effective June 20, 2021, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), section 503.4.2b, to clarify when Priority Mail® includes a maximum of $50.00 of insurance.
The Postal Service is revising section 503.4.2b to specify that Priority Mail includes a maximum of $50.00 of insurance when the Priority Mail piece bears an Intelligent Mail® package barcode (IMpb®) or USPS® retail tracking barcode and the mailer pays retail or Commercial Base prices. This revision will clarify the standard and ensure sections 503.4.2a and 503.4.2b are consistent.
Although the Postal Service will not publish this clarification in the DMM until June 20, 2021, the revised standard is effective immediately.
