Act Now: USPS is Moving to New External File-sharing Platform

The United States Postal Service® is transitioning from using Secure Large File Transfer (SLFT) to SharePoint Online External Large File Sharing (ELFS). This change impacts all SLFT users, and SLFT content owners must take immediate action.

In addition to allowing large files — such as presentations, photos, and videos — to be shared with external entities, ELFS offers enhanced capabilities, including unlimited file size restrictions and real-time editing of shared files.

Before September 17, current SLFT content owners must remove all files and folders from the application and save them to an alternate storage location. SLFT will be decommissioned on September 17 — any files and folders remaining in the application will not be retrievable.

SLFT content owners must take these three steps:

1. Log in to the SLFT application.

2. Download all files and folders from SLFT and save them to an alternative storage location (e.g., OneDrive).

3. Send an email to CISO Engineering Data Security Services at CISOEngineeringDataSecurityServices@ usps.gov once all files and folders have been removed from SLFT.

If the files and folders removed from SLFT need to be shared with external entities, upload them to ELFS with the help of this training video: blue.usps.gov/cyber/video/GMT20210811-201832_ELFS-Infor_1920x1080.mp4.

All current SLFT content owners automatically have access to the new ELFS platform. Until ELFS is available in eAccess, ACE users who need large file-sharing capabilities must request access to SLFT (via eAccess). They will be granted ELFS access instead.

For more information about ELFS, visit the SLFT and ELFS page on Blue at blue.usps.gov/cyber/slft-web-application.htm.
