PS Form 571 is No Longer Required for Reporting Overages or Shortages

Effective October 3, 2021, the Postal Service™ no longer requires PS Form 571, Discrepancy of $100 or More in Financial Responsibility, for reporting count overages or shortages as this information is captured via financial reporting technologies.

Retail Systems Software (RSS) and e1412 systems require comments when there is a count discrepancy of $100 or more; this information is then electronically transmitted to support Office of Inspector General investigations. PS Form 571 is now scheduled to become obsolete.

Additionally, the Postal Service will incorporate this revision into the next edition of online Handbook F-101, Field Accounting Procedures, where appropriate.
