AES Filing

Many international shipments require the electronic filing of export information under regulations by the Bureau of the Census. Before mailing, the mailer files the information via the Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP’s) Refactored Automated Export System Direct (AESDirect). Various exemptions might apply. When a shipment falls under one of these exemptions, the mailer must document the exemption code on the customs declaration form.
