5-15 Recognize and Reward Supplier

Recognition of a supplier is based on the identification of exceptional contributions and current performance, or from past performance experiences, on Postal Service contracts. It is in the Postal Service’s best interests to realize the importance of recognizing and rewarding supplier contributions and accomplishments. Recognizing and rewarding suppliers for outstanding performance motivates further supplier efforts including providing for higher quality in their goods and services, encourages a striving for excellence in the timeliness of delivery, innovation, performance levels, operations, and strengthens strategic supplier relationships.

Reward programs also benefit suppliers. Recipients will be recognized for substantial improvement in total quality and performance levels compared to other suppliers in the market. Suppliers through recognition can improve company reputation, increase their marketability and visibility, and further streamline processes to reduce costs or obtain capital to grow their business. When posted on web sites and used in marketing materials, recognition awards help suppliers develop new business and create strong relationships with other companies. By achieving a certain status with the Postal Service, suppliers can:

  • Improve their competitiveness.
  • Improve their relationships with the Postal Service.
  • Enhance their brand.
