NATIONAL CONSUMER PROTECTION WEEK FEBRUARY 5-11

Fighting Fraud: It's a Family Matter

The United States Postal Inspection Service and the Postal Service'sTM Consumer Advocate are reaching out to consumers during National Consumer Protection Week, February 5-11. The Postal Service's message for this year's campaign is "Fighting Fraud: It's a Family Matter!" (See brochure on page 6.)

When grandparents are taken in by a fraudulent investment, mom loses money to an illegal foreign lottery, or a son or daughter falls for a bogus job offer, who gets victimized? The entire family. That's why the U.S. Postal Service® Consumer Advocate's Office and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are partnering to educate American families about fraudulent schemes and equip them with tools to protect them from scammers. Educated families are the best defense against criminal fraud.

A pay stub stuffer will be accompanying the February 10 employee pay statements. Employees are encouraged to review the tips provided. For more information and a free consumer fraud prevention DVD, visit www.usps.com/ postalinspectors or call 877-987-3728.
