Excellent communication — and good team work — helped an alert crew of postal workers in Buffalo, NY, foil a bad check ring.
The scammers launched their illegal activity at the city’s Central Park Station. They bought six coils of stamps and paid with a check that Sales and Service Associate (SSA) Annette Robinson suspected was bad. The bank confirmed her suspicions, saying the check was drawn on a closed account. Customer Services Manager Rose McLennan sent an e-mail to neighboring offices, alerting them to the scam.
