Publication 51 Correction: Sanctions of Several Countries by the U.S. Department of the Treasury

In the article “Publication 51 Revision: Sanctions of Several Countries by the U.S. Department of the Treasury” in Postal Bulletin 22201 (3-1-07, pages 6–7), the list of countries affected by the sanctions and the telephone number listed for the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in the U.S. Department of the Treasury were incorrect.

OFAC has imposed restrictions on packages sent to the following countries:

• Cuba.
• Iran.
• Sudan.

The correct telephone number for OFAC is 800-540-6322.

Consequently, in Publication 51, International Postal Rates and Fees, we are removing the footnote marker about OFAC sanctions from the Country Listing entries for the following countries:

• Belarus.
• Bosnia-Herzegovina.
• Burma (Myanmar).
• Congo, Democratic Republic of the.
• Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast).
• Croatia.
• Korea, Democratic People’s Republic of (North Korea).
• Liberia.
• Macedonia (Republic of).
• Serbia-Montenegro (Yugoslavia).
• Syrian Arab Republic (Syria).
• Zimbabwe.

We are also correcting OFAC’s telephone number in the footnote about OFAC sanctions in the Country Listing.

We will incorporate these corrections into the next printed version of Publication 51 and also into the online version of Publication 51, which can be accessed via Postal Explorer^® at http://pe.usps.com.
