Goodbye to PS Form 1510...It’s History
Postal Inspection Service Replaces 1510 With Online and Phone Reporting

PS Form 1510

June 1, 2007, will mark a historic milestone for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service — make that the entire U.S. Postal Service! Used for nearly 114 years, PS Form 1510, Mail Loss and Rifling Report, becomes obsolete.

The earliest known reference to PS Form 1510 was found in an 1893 edition of Postal Laws and Regulations, a precursor to the Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®). The “Chief Post Office Inspector” (as the position was known then) was the originator of the form.

Post Offices™ should destroy all forms currently in stock and recycle as appropriate. Customers who wish to report suspected mail theft or rifling must now call 800-ASK-USPS or go to the Postal Inspection Service’s Web site and input the information online at www.usps.com/postalinspectors.
