2007 U.S. Postal Service National Awards Program for Diversity Achievement

The Postal Service™ is seeking nominations for the 2007 National Awards Program for Diversity Achieve­ment beginning on May 7. Established in 1996, the awards program recognizes individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to encourage and promote diver­sity within their organization.

All career Postal Service employees are eligible for nom­ination and participation. Excluded (except when acting as an essential member of a team) are the following: diversity and human capital development manager, senior diversity programs coordinator, diversity development specialist, and Hispanic program specialist.

2007 National Awards Program for Diversity Achievement

Awards will be given in six categories: Individual, Lead­ership, Team, Altruism, Mentoring, and “Dot Sharpe” Lifetime Achievement Award. Eligibility is based on excel­lent performance in achieving diversity objectives as they align with the Strategic Transformation Plan 2006-2010.

Complete and submit all nominations through the Intranet via the Employee Development and Diversity Web site at http://blue.usps.gov/diversitynet/awards/. The nom­ination deadline is June 8, 2007.

Leadership Award

Recognizes the diversity achievements of Postal Service executives. Executives nominated for this award have demonstrated leadership skills and have made a significant impact on Postal Service business through specific actions, leadership roles, and personal involvement.

Recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a team of individuals who, by coordinating their efforts, have contributed substantially to our diversity mission.

Altruism Award

Recognizes individuals who, throughout the year, have demonstrated selfless dedication to the well-being of others. Nominees must demonstrate how their work within the community has delivered positive change to people’s lives.

“Dot Sharpe” Lifetime Achievement Award

Recognizes an outstanding Postal Service employee who, over a sustained period of his or her career, has made extraordinary contributions to our organization’s diversity mission.

Mentoring Award

Honors an individual who has given his or her time and effort to helping one or more individuals succeed. This individual has demonstrated accomplishments in teaching, coaching, counseling, and motivating others to meet their career goals.
