Effective May 14, 2007, we are revising Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®) to remove the 1-ounce or less limitation on the nonmachinable surcharge for First-Class Mail® letters. Letter-rate First-Class Mail pieces with any of the nonmachinable characteristics in DMM 201.2.1 will be subject to the $0.17 nonmachinable surcharge. We are also changing the price for the Priority Mail® Flat-Rate Box from $9.15 to $8.95.
We posted an advance copy of the DMM on www.usps.com/ratecase, with all of the prices and standards effective on May 14. We encourage you to reference this version of the DMM as you prepare for the pricing change.
