USPS extends National Postal Museum agreement with Smithsonian

USPS and the Smithsonian Institution will continue to showcase the history of the nation’s mail service for up to 20 more years.

The pact extends the Smithsonian’s current stewardship of the museum in Washington, DC, for the next 10 years, with options to extend the agreement an additional 10 years.

The National Postal Museum — which opened in 1990 — contains the largest and most comprehensive collection of stamps and philatelic materials in the world. The facility is in a building that served as the Washington, DC, Post Office from 1914 to 1986.
