Cardboard managed mail (MM) trays are making a welcome return engagement. Network Operations recently ordered 2 million new hi-tech cardboard MM trays and plans to order more. These are not the same cardboard MM trays that were used the 1990s. This latest version is made of water-resistant paper and has a new self-locking design which extends the service life cycle and helps reduce costs. They are 100% recyclable. When they are no longer useable, they can be included with other cardboard items destined for recycling. Plastic MM trays are becoming increasingly expensive as the price of oil and natural gas used to make them soars. These new trays are a much more cost-effective alternative to plastic trays and support our commitment to sustainability and green programs in the Postal Service™.
