Effective September 8, 2009, the Postal Service™ is revising Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) section 213.1 to add the new “851” 3-digit ZIP™ Code service area to the list of Post Office™ facilities that accept Global Express Guaranteed® (GXG®) items.
The article titled “DMM Revision: Arizona District ZIP Codes Realigned to Include ‘851’ 3-Digit Service Area” in Postal Bulletin 22262 (7-2-09, page 4) announced a ZIP Code realignment in the Arizona District. The realignment impacted various existing 852 prefixes that converted to 851 prefixes — many of the Postal Service facilities within this new service area included participating GXG acceptance sites. Consequently, IMM Exhibit 213.1 is revised to include the new 851 3-digit ZIP Code service area.
We will incorporate this revision into the next printed version of the IMM and into the monthly update of the online IMM, which is available via Postal Explorer® at http://pe.usps.com.
