Effective February 1, 2010, AIC 012, Forever Stamp Sales Vending, and AIC 096, Vending Equipment Postage Sales, has been deactivated and placed on the reserved list. These AICs will no longer be used at Post Office™ facilities or postal retail units for stamp vending sales. Stamp vending equipment has been removed from service, therefore stamp vending operations are no longer supported by the Postal Service™. Handbook F-101, Field Accounting Procedures, will be modified to remove all references to stamp vending machines or stamp vending operations.
In an effort to reduce the destruction cost of vending stamp stock, window retail services are no longer restricted from sales of vending stamps. Stamp distribution offices and stamp services centers will remove the ordering restrictions so any postal retail unit may order specific vending stamps to be sold at window retail services.
The POS ONE system will be updated to automatically map the sale of vending stamps to the appropriate Walk-in Revenue AIC based on the product item number captured when scanned at the time of sale.
The IRT equipment locations must enter the sales of vending stamps into their corresponding AIC 007, Forever Stamp Sales — Window Services, AIC 084, Breast Cancer Semi-Postal Stamps, or AIC 090, Postage Stock Sales.
