Stamp Announcement 12-40: Major League Baseball All-Stars: Ted Williams

Stamp Announcement 12-40: Major League Baseball All-Stars: Ted Williams

On July 21 2012, in Boston, Massachusetts, the Postal Service will issue a Major League Baseball All-Stars: Ted Williams commemorative stamp (Forever priced at 45 cents) in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps (Item 578100).

The stamp will go on sale in Boston July 21, 2012.

With the issuance of the Major League Baseball All-Stars: Ted Williams stamp, the U.S. Postal Service recognizes one of the greatest hitters in Major League Baseball history. Williams, of the Boston Red Sox, was the last Major League player to bat over .400 for a single season (1941). The stamp art, based on historic photographs, shows Williams at bat. Illustrator Kadir Nelson worked with art director Phil Jordan to create the stamp art.
