Effective November 12, 2015, the Postal Service™ is revising Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) sections 223.222 and 233.222 to reflect the availability of extra services to users of USPS®-produced Global Shipping Software (GSS).
Extra services such as insurance were previously not available to mailers who used GSS to manifest international mailings and electronically transmit customs declaration information. However, the software that mailers already have can support the addition of extra services as appropriate to the mail class selected.
Although these revisions will not be published in the IMM until January 17, 2016, mailers can start adding extra services immediately.
