In Postal Bulletin 22432 dated January 7, 2016, the Postal Service™ announced that effective March 7, 2016, we would revise the restriction codes for military and diplomatic mail and replace the table of APO⁄FPO⁄DPO ZIP Codes™ and the Restrictions definitions that are currently published in the Pull-Out Information section of the Postal Bulletin. Due to systems issues, these changes are temporarily on hold.
At the same time, we also announced that effective March 7, 2016, we would revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), subchapter 703.2, to incorporate two restrictions pertaining to the overseas addressing requirements for military mail that are currently Restrictions A1 and A2 in the APO⁄FPO⁄DPO table and remove those two current restrictions from the table. We revised the text in the DMM as planned, but we will temporarily keep Restrictions A1 and A2 in the APO⁄FPO⁄DPO table.
The updated mailing standards are included in the March 7, 2016, online update of the DMM, which is available via Postal Explorer® at http:⁄⁄pe.usps.com.
