DMM Revision: Missing Mail

Effective June 6, 2016, the Postal Service™ will revise Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), section 507.1.9, by adding a new sub-section 1.9.3, Customer Inquiry. This new section provides customers with the methods to inquire about missing items and introduces the new “Missing Mail” online application option available to registered USPS.com® customers.

Additionally, we will revise sections 507.1.9.1 and 608.8.1 to provide contact information.

Although this clarification will not be published in the DMM until June 6, 2016, the Missing Mail application will be available to customers starting May 16, 2016.
