Handbook EL-307 Revision: Reasonable Accommodation Policy and Procedure

Effective April 2017, the Postal Service™ revised Handbook EL-307, Reasonable Accommodation, An Interactive Process, to ensure compliance with:

n The Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA), which significantly broadened the definition of “disability” to ensure that the law would cover more individuals. In addition, the ADAAA amended the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 to conform to the ADAAA changes; and

n Postal Service policy set forth in Management Instruction (MI) EL-670-2013-6, Providing Communication Accommodations to Employees and Applicants Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Handbook EL-307, Reasonable Accommodation, An Interactive Process, is now available on the Postal Service PolicyNet website:

n Go to blue.usps.gov.

n In the left-hand column under “Essential Links,” click PolicyNet.

n Click Handbooks.
