IMM Revision: Individual Country Listing for South Africa

Effective July 19, 2018, the Postal Service is revising Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) to reflect a change to the Individual Country Listing for South Africa.

As a result of a formal request made through the Universal Postal Union via International Bureau Circular 72 dated May 28, 2018, South Africa is adding a prohibition on lithium batteries. This prohibition also applies to mail in transit, as South Africa indicates that mailers may no longer send shipments that include lithium batteries to or via South Africa.
