Effective May 23, 2019, the Postal Service™ is revising the Individual Country Listing for New Zealand in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM®) to note that New Zealand is adding new prohibitions for various kinds of weapons, medicines, and obscene articles.
These revisions are based on a formal request that New Zealand Post made through the Universal Postal Union via International Bureau Circular 107, dated August 6, 2018.

Prohibitions
[Add new entries in alphabetical order to read as follows:]
Knives and offensive weapons (including knuckledusters and swordsticks), crossbows, defensive chemical dispensers (including mace, pepper spray, and tear gas), electric stun guns, etc.
Medicines containing pseudoephedrine.
Obscene and immoral articles contained in publications and on any media, including videotapes, films, records, and CD-ROMs.

Although effective on May 23, 2019, the Postal Service will incorporate these revisions into the next edition of the online IMM, which is available via Postal Explorer® at pe.usps.com.
