The United States Postal Service® has enhanced USPS.com® by expanding the availability of money order status information. This enhancement is part of the continued effort to improve the user experience for Postal Service™ customers.
Previously, users could only get 6401 Money Order Inquiry status through the Money Order Inquiry System (MOIS) online. MOIS functionality has now been duplicated in Solution for Enterprise Asset Management (SEAM), which now interfaces with USPS.com. In addition, SEAM contains all money order transaction records. Through the SEAM interface, status information for money orders issued by the Postal Service is now available on USPS.com.
By entering a valid money order serial number, Post Office number, and issue amount, users can receive near real-time status on a 6401 Money Order Inquiry or an issued money order.
To access the money orders application via USPS.com, visit usps.com/shop/money-orders.htm. Scroll down to the “Check the Status of a Money Order” section, and click the link for “Money Orders Application.”
