Mail Plus Digital is a Winning Combination

Mailing promotions play a powerful role in any integrated marketing campaign, which helps to drive sales and deliver a solid return on investment for businesses. Building on the success of past promotions that combined mail and digital technology, the United States Postal Service® developed the 2021 promotions calendar for marketers, printers, and mailers at postalpro.usps.com/promotions/2021-calendar.

Here is a brief overview of the opportunities for business mailers who participate in USPS® 2021 mailing promotions:

Tactile, Sensory, and Interactive Mailpiece Engagement Promotion

n Promotion runs February 1 through July 31, 2021.

n Registration period: December 15, 2020 through July 31, 2021.

Leveraging the physical aspects of mail as well as the advances in print technology, marketers can enhance how their customers interact and engage with mail to drive response rates. During this promotion, eligible mailers who use a multi-sensory experience, such as special visual effects, sound, scent, texture/tactile treatments, or even taste in their mailpiece may receive a postage discount. Emerging and Advanced Technology Promotion

n Promotion runs March 1 through August 31, 2021.

n Registration period: January 15 through August 31, 2021.

To ensure that direct mail continues to be a relevant part of the marketing mix, this promotion encourages mailers to use cutting edge technologies to connect with their customers, such as:

n “Enhanced” Augmented Reality,

n Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality,

n Near Field Communication,

n Video in Print featuring Shoppable Video,

n Integration with Voice Assistants, and

n Digital to Direct Mail technology applications in mail campaigns.

Earned Value Promotion

n Promotion runs April 1 through June 30, 2021.

n Registration period: February 15 through March 31, 2021.

This promotion is intended to help slow the decline of First-Class Mail®, which includes Business Reply Mail® (BRM) and Courtesy Reply Mail™ (CRM) pieces. Mailers who register their Mailer ID (MID) information and use eligible Intelligent Mail® barcodes on their BRM, CRM, and Share Mail pieces may receive a postage credit for each mailpiece that is placed in the mailstream by the recipient and scanned during the promotion period. Personalized Color Transpromo Promotion

n Promotion runs July 1 through December 31, 2021.

n Registration period: May 15 through December 31, 2021.

Participation in this promotion helps business mailers offer marketing messages that use color, dynamic variable print, and personalization. Using color messaging in bills and statements helps business mailers enhance the value of First-Class Mail and foster a better connection and response rate from customers. Mobile Shopping Promotion

n Promotion runs August 1 through December 31, 2021.

n Registration period: June 15 through December 31, 2021.

This promotion highlights the connection between the mailpiece and the digital shopping experience. Using this technology, customers can go right from the mailpiece to a mobile-optimized online shopping experience using platforms like Quick Response Codes, Snap Tags, Watermarks, and other advanced technologies. Informed Delivery Promotion

n Promotion runs September 1 through November 30, 2021.

n Registration period: July 15 through November 30, 2021.
