The United States Postal Service® introduced Cremated Remains Animal Kits in February 2020. Since inception, the volume ordered remains extremely low. After conducting a return on investment analysis, the Postal Service™ decided to discontinue further production of the Cremated Remains Animal Kits.
Currently, there are two Cremated Remains Animal Kits available at The Postal Store® website (store.usps.com/store/home):
n Kit 1 includes the Priority Mail Express® Animal box (Dimensions: 9” L x 7-1/4” W x 5” H) and one roll of Priority Mail Express tape.
n Kit 2 includes the Priority Mail Express Animal box (Dimensions: 9” L x 7-1/4” W x 5” H), one roll of tape, bubble cushioning, a self-sealing plastic bag, and Publication 139, How to Package and Ship Cremated Remains.
Recommended alternatives for the discontinued Cremated Remains Animal Kits are the Cremated Remains Human Kits 1 and 2:
n Kit 1 includes the Priority Mail Express Cremated Remains Human box (Dimensions: 14-3/4” L x 10-1/4” W x 10” H) and one roll of Priority Mail Express tape.
n Kit 2 includes the Priority Mail Express Cremated Remains Human box (Dimensions: 14-3/4” L x 10-1/4” W x 10” H), one roll of Priority Mail Express tape, bubble cushioning, a self-sealing plastic bag, and Publication 139, How to Package and Ship Cremated Remains.
Cremated Remains Animal Kits will remain available at store.usps.com/store/home while supplies last. Once the Animal kits have been discontinued, the word “Human” will be removed from the Cremated Remains Kits available at The Postal Store website.
