IMM Revision: Individual Country Listing for Australia

Effective June 16, 2022, the Postal Service™ is revising the Individual Country Listing for Australia in Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, International Mail Manual (IMM) to note an additional phytosanitary certificate requirement for certain plant products to safeguard against the entry, establishment, and spread of the khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) in Australia.

This revision is based on a formal request that Australia Post (the designated postal operator of Australia) made through the Universal Postal Union via International Bureau Circular 63, dated April 25, 2022.

[Add an entry in alphabetical order to read as follows:]

Other-risk plant products for sowing — such as seeds, nuts, green coffee beans, dried fruit, vegetables, herbs, and spices — must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate from the Australian government’s Department of Agriculture, Water, and the Environment (AWE) that includes the following additional declaration: “Representative samples were inspected and found free from evidence of any species of Trogoderma (whether live, dead, or exuviae) in Australia’s list of Trogoderma species of biosecurity concern.” This requirement applies to items arriving via all mail classes, including EMS.
