Frequently Asked Questions
1) Q. Why is the Postal Service
joining with Hershey's?
A. The United States Postal Service®
and Hershey's are two of America's oldest and most respected brands. It
makes sense for these traditional and family-oriented companies to coordinate
efforts to reach out into the community. This initiative combines the
trusted familiarity of both the Postal Service and Hershey's in an atmosphere
of family fun, while reinforcing the value of both brands.
2) Q. What is the purpose of
having a pumpkin decorating contest?
A. Hosting a pumpkin decorating
contest in retail lobbies or other Postal Service-sponsored locations
is simply a fun, creative way to bring customers to us so we have an opportunity
to let them know about our suite of quick, easy, and convenient online
services.
3) Q. What do we get out of
this event?
A. The Postal Service is a respected
member of local communities around the country. Programs such as this
increase community goodwill and can be used to build customer awareness
and use of new and traditional Postal Service programs, products, and
services.
4) Q. Why can't certain states
participate in the national contest?
A. New Jersey, North Dakota, Tennessee,
Vermont, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia cannot participate
in the national contest because those locations prohibit sweepstakes of
all kinds.

Pumpkin Decorating Tips - Using Hershey's Candy
Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel
This candy can be used to make hair: apply in a
bunch, individual strands, or even braided; use around facial features
to create smile lines; twirl and glue for cheeks and eyes; or cut into
smaller pieces for eyelashes, eyebrows, mustaches, or other facial hair.
Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bars
Break into pieces for eyebrows or mustaches, or
stand up for spiked hair.
Kit Kat Bars
Break into pieces for scars or spiked hair.
Miniature Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Use wrapped or unwrapped to add a bit of hair -
right- side up or upside down. This candy makes great pumpkin eyes.
Reese's Pieces
This candy can be used for eyes or beauty marks.
Good & Plenty
Use for eyelashes, toenails, lips, and, of course,
teeth: vampire or crooked for sweet pumpkin smiles. Group the Good &
Plenty around a miniature Reese's Peanut Butter Cup for a flower.
Whoppers
The perfect candy to create curls or eyeballs, or
grouped to form lips or polka dots.
Bubble Yum
Unwrap the gum and use single pieces or several.
Roll, press, and sculpt the gum like clay to create cheeks, noses, eyes,
tails, ears, or hair. Press in lines and other details using a piece of
Twizzlers Pull-n-Peel for lip lines and wrinkles.
Hershey's Kisses or Hugs
This candy can be used wrapped or unwrapped to add
a bit of hair. Cut off the top and layer with Reese's Pieces for eyes.
York Peppermint Patties
These can be used for eyes or mouths, or cut in
half for ears.
Dips
This candy is perfect for ears and eyelids.
Note: The candy is glued onto the pumpkin.
