Employees from the Vancouver Main Post Office. The Evergreen state has added another Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) worksite.

The Vancouver, WA, Main Post Office achieved the coveted status in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA’s) VPP.

“The safety and health achievements obtained at this facility are truly remarkable, resulting in a record rate 65 percent below the average postal worksite,” OSHA’s Seattle Regional Administrator Richard Terrill said.

OSHA created VPP to recognize and encourage excellence in occupational safety and health protection. Only facilities that exceed OSHA’s tough safety standards and pass its rigorous onsite evaluation obtain Star status.

Vancouver Postmaster Robert Ayers said it took the worksite a year and a half to develop and implement its goal of earning VPP status. 185 employees work at the Vancouver Main Post Office.
