This is a correction to the listing in Postal Bulletin 22390, May 29, 2014, of stock to be withdrawn from sale effective close-of-business June 30, 2014.
The success of our Stamps business relies on effective management of production and inventories and optimizing distribution to ensure that our customers have access to the stamps that are most current. Efficient turn-over of stamp inventory is critical and a key component of proper inventory management. In order to accommodate new stamps, it’s important to take time to clean out old inventories.
Timely stamp destruction allows our business to maximize the usage of our storage space, systems, and other Postal Service™ resources in the most cost-effective way. Inventory turn-over is critical to the health of our business and allows us to satisfy our customers and maximize sales.
Therefore, the destruction plan that was issued in the May 29, 2014 Postal Bulletin was initiated to give Post Offices™ the opportunity to remove slow moving, outdated stamps from inventories and free up space in the accountability cap which will allow Post Offices to order newer stamps that their customers are requesting.
The inventory you have sent back or plan to return to SFS will remain on sale for customers placing orders on http://usps.com, eBay, USA Philatelic catalog, and 800-STAMP24 until stock is depleted. If there is a customer interested in any of the inventory items not available in your stock, please refer them to alternative channels. Note: Your office will receive credit for all sales (based on customers ship to address) made through these channels.
The following items should continue to be sold while inventories remain at Post Offices. We will revisit the off-sale date of these items prior to the next quarter destruction.
These items may continue to be sold at Post Offices, stations, branches, postal stores, vending outlets, and authorized philatelic centers that still have these items in their accountability. Stamps listed with an asterisk (*) in this listing will be available through SFSWeb and the SEAM Catalog for reordering. All other items will not be available for reorder. These items will also remain on sale through all channels at Stamp Fulfillment Services.
Thank you for your cooperation. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Betty J. Brown at 816-545-1041 or via email at stampproduction.sfs@usps.gov.
The following items are off sale in the field but will remain on sale through all channels at Stamp Fulfillment Services.
