Effective January 27, 2019, the Postal Service™ will amend Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM®), section 705.18.5, to clarify the facility delivery address used for Priority Mail Express Open and Distribute® (PMEOD) and Priority Mail Open and Distribute® (PMOD) containers.
To ensure USPS® routes all PMEOD and PMOD containers to the appropriate facility for processing, the Postal Service will amend the PMEOD and PMOD addressing standards for SCF, ADC, NDC, and ASF labels. The current addressing standards using city, state, and ZIP Code™ will be revised to use the facility name, state, and National Air and Surface System (NASS) Code found in the Drop Entry Point View File available on the USPS Facility Access and Shipment Tracking (FAST®) Web site: fast.usps.com. The Destination Delivery Units (DDU) addressing standards will remain the same (i.e., use the name of the DDU on the top line; the street address of the facility on the next line; and city, state, and ZIP+4® code on the last line of the address block).
These revisions are necessary to maximize operational efficiencies in the USPS network, which allows the Postal Service to provide the highest level of service. Although the Postal Service will not publish these revisions in the DMM until January 27, 2019, the standards are effective immediately.
