334 Accommodations That May Not Be Reasonable or Impose an Undue Hardship in Tests

The Postal Service provides reasonable accommodation in tests to applicants with disabilities except in cases of undue hardship. All those involved, including supervisors, managers, examiners, testing vendors, or Human Resources, must determine undue hardship case by case (see 153), as must those they may consult (including RACs and selecting officials).

The following may be unreasonable or an undue hardship with respect to tests:

• Purchasing or renting specialized equipment or services on a one-time basis for a limited use by very few applicants at great expense.
• Postponing announcing or administering a test to a large number of applicants to accommodate the needs of an applicant with a disability.

Note: This does not prohibit establishing an alternate date for persons with disabilities.

• For employee applicants, any action violating seniority provisions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
