A. Introduction. Handbook EL-307, Reasonable Accommodation, An Interactive Process, is a critical tool for meeting Postal Service legal and regulatory responsibilities by providing managers and supervisors with procedures, guidance, and instructions on matters of reasonable accommodation that involve applicants and employees with disabilities. The procedures contained in this handbook implement the requirements in Section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and 29 C.F.R. § 1614.203(d)(3).

B. Explanation. This issue of Handbook EL-307, Reasonable Accommodation, An Interactive Process, contains revisions to ensure that the Postal Service‘s guidance on reasonable accommodation is compliant with EEOC regulatory requirements, including exceptions to disclosure of medical information, and how to obtain funding for accommodations. Updates also include where to obtain guidance and technical assistance documents from the EEOC.
