USPS Temporarily Suspends Operations At Birmingham Bluff Park Finance Station

Birmingham, AL --- The U.S. Postal Service’s priority is the safety and well-being of its employees and customers.

In an abundance of caution, the U.S. Postal Service temporarily has suspended operations at the Bluff Park Finance Station, 762 Shades Mountain Plaza in Birmingham, due to a safety concern. Postal officials are working to resolve this safety issue and will be providing an update to customers once a thorough assessment has been completed.

The U.S. Postal Service apologizes to its customers for any inconvenience.

Postal customers may conduct retail transactions at the Hoover Post Office at 1809 Riverchase Drive, Hoover, AL 35244. With proper identification, Bluff Park Finance Station customers with Post Office Boxes may pick up their mail at the retail counter at the Hoover Post Office. Operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Hoover Post Office is closed on Sunday.

Customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS or visit the Postal Service’s website, usps.com, for locations of additional nearby Post Offices and approved postal retail service providers. They also may choose to use a Self-Service Kiosk (SSK) available at select Post Offices. This ATM-like kiosk, which accepts credit and debit cards only, can handle 80 percent of the transactions conducted at the Post Office retail counter.

Transactions may include buying stamps, mailing a parcel, or shipping an urgent letter or package via Priority Mail Express. For SSK locations, visit usps.com.

Local mail delivery will not be impacted by this temporary suspension.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
