U.S. Postal Service Temporarily Suspends Operations At Jack, AL Post Office Due to Structural Damage

JACK, ALABAMA --- The U.S. Postal Service’s priority is the safety and well-being of its employees and customers.

The Jack Post Office at 29950 Highway 87 in Jack, AL 36346 sustained structural damage due to recent tornadic activity. Effective immediately, the U.S. Postal Service temporarily has suspended operations at this location. Postal officials will provide an update to customers once a thorough assessment has been completed.

The U.S. Postal Service apologizes to its customers for any inconvenience.

Postal customers may conduct retail transactions at the Elba Post Office at 469 Claxton Ave North in Elba, AL 36323. Jack Post Office Box customers with proper identification may pick up their mail at the Elba Post Office. Operating hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The Elba Post Office is closed on Sunday. 

Customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS or visit the Postal Service’s website, usps.com, for locations of additional nearby Post Offices and approved postal retail service providers. They also may choose to use a Self-Service Kiosk (SSK) available at select Post Offices. This ATM-like kiosk, which accepts credit and debit cards only, can handle 80 percent of the transactions conducted at the Post Office retail counter.
Transactions may include buying stamps, mailing a parcel, or shipping an urgent letter or package via Priority Mail Express. For SSK locations, visit usps.com.

Local mail delivery will not be impacted by this temporary suspension.
