Mail Destroyed in Vehicle Fire

On Saturday, August 31, a USPS semi-truck departed from the Phoenix, AZ, Daisy Mountain Station carrying collection mail to the West Valley Processing and Distribution Center. The truck was near its destination when it caught fire while on route. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

Our carrier did not experience injuries as a result of the fire, but an unspecified amount of outgoing mail in the trailer was destroyed.

Customers who think their mail may have been affected should call the Postal Service Call Center at 1-800-275-8777.

If a package was insured, a claim can be filed online at: https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
