The United States Postal Service is looking to hire 24 full time Automotive Technicians at the Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Phoenix, AZ. USPS Automotive Technicians provide our customers with safe, reliable vehicles by efficiently and economically maintaining our USPS fleet.
The starting salary for these career positions is $59,697 with benefits that include regular pay increases, paid vacation leave, health insurance, additional pay for working nights or on Sunday and a comprehensive retirement package. Plus, all tools are provided. The jobs will be posted through October 15th, or until they are filled.
An Automotive Technician for the USPS performs routine and complex repairs and maintenance on all types of motor vehicles used in the postal fleet; troubleshoots and diagnoses more complex vehicle malfunctions using a variety of computerized test equipment; and assists lower-level employees. The position may require work outdoors year around.

In order to qualify for the Automotive Technician position, candidates will be required to successfully complete postal exam 943. It is similar to an ASE style exam. The exam covers topics on basic engine theory, basic electrical, emissions, suspension, and alignment.
