Mail delivery to Cave Creek customers resumed

CAVE CREEK, AZ – Out of an abundance of caution, Retail, Post Office Box and Delivery operations at the Cave Creek Post Office, located at 38400 N School House Rd and Cave Creek Annex, 6710 East Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek, AZ 85331, are suspended due to leakage of an improperly mailed package containing mercury.

Environmental officials are currently mitigating the concerns caused by the leakage.

Mail delivery in Cave Creek has resumed today, November 20, 2024.

Customers may pick up PO Box mail, mail on hold, and notice left packages at:

Arcadia Post Office
3920 E Thomas Rd, Pheonix, AZ 85018.
Hours: Mon – Fri 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; Sat. 9:00 am – 3:00 pm; closed Sunday.

Customers are reminded to bring proper photo identification for mail and package pickups.

“The safety of our employees and customers is paramount,” said Postmaster George Reynolds. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our customers and are working to quickly find a solution.”

This is an emergency suspension of this office, not a permanent closure. Additional details will be provided as they become available regarding the reopening of this office here.

We apologize for this inconvenience to our customers and plan to have the Cave Creek Post Office and Cave Creek Annex reopened and fully operational as soon as possible.

The Postal Service reminds customers that metallic mercury and devices containing metallic mercury are always prohibited in the mail stream. This includes antique items such as thermometers, barometers, blood pressure monitors, switches and relays. Please see our press release for more information.
