Manages USPS Services for the Pinetop Community
Pinetop, Arizona’s newest postmaster, Benjamin Perez joined the Postal Service as a city collection carrier in San Antonio, Texas in 2004. He is the 11th postmaster to serve the Pinetop community.
During his tenure as a postal employee, Perez has served in many roles including as a carrier, a mail handler and the safety captain in San Antonio, Texas, carrier in Glendale, Arizona, and supervisor of customer service at the Maryvale and Arrowhead, Arizona Post Office locations. Perez also served as the finance supervisor in Glendale, Arizona. Prior to working for the Postal Service, he served in the U.S. Army for three years as Infantry solider in Alpha company 1/23 INF. “TOMAHAWKS!”
Three years ago, the Postal Service implemented the “Delivering for America” (DFA) 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence. Perez states he is doing his part “by coming to work with a positive attitude which is contagious and helps his employees have a great start to their day. This way they deliver their routes with a positive attitude and provide great customer service. Our customers have a great experience, visit our Post Office and get the service they pay for.” Perez also explains to his customers the Delivering for America plan is the new way USPS is doing business.
Perez recognizes that families rely heavily on the Postal Service operating efficiently, he says ensuring postal services and mail delivery is his mission and is honored to serve the Pinetop community.
Being a postal employee runs in the Perez family. He has two cousins who are Postal Service carriers in San Antonio, Texas. Family support has been paramount to his success, he says “Post Office careers are family commitments, and I’m extremely grateful for the support, encouragement, and commitment from my wife and our kids.”
When not on duty, Perez enjoys spending time with his wife and their eight children, doing projects around the house, attending church, and traveling every chance they get. For several years, he has coached youth 10 and under basketball, soccer, and baseball. The entire family is thrilled to call Pinetop home.
As postmaster Perez oversees 8 employees, approximately 2,842 mail deliveries, 3,500 Post Office Boxes (PO Boxes), and two retail units. The Pinetop Post Office hours of operations: Monday – Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Saturday, 11:30 am - 2:30 pm; Sunday - closed.
