It’s Priority Yule! at the Post Office for customers needing more time to mail
EUREKA, CA — To ease the hustle and bustle of getting your holiday shipments in the mail, the Eureka Post Office at 337 W. Clark, Eureka, CA 05501 will be open for full retail service on Sunday, December 9 and December 16, 2018. With the two weeks before Christmas anticipated to be the busiest weeks of the year, the Postal Service wants to ease the stress for customers rushing to get their shipments on the way.
The Post Office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 9 and 16.
Nearly 3 billion pieces of mail, including 200 million packages, are expected to be processed and delivered just during the week of December 17-23. Traditionally, what used to be the busiest day of the year has morphed into the “busiest week,” largely driven by an increase in online purchases.
According to Postmaster Heather McTigue, “It is Priority Yule! at the Post Office. During the busiest time of the year, people get frazzled with all they have to do. Providing a convenience to our customers by giving them more days to give us their shipments is just one less thing they have to worry about.”
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
