Background:

Harold McCraw worked for the United States Postal Service for 45 years. He was hired at 19 as a substitute letter carrier and rose through the ranks to become the Richmond Postmaster in 1974. McCraw was instrumental in creating opportunities for minorities in the Postal Service. He mentored and trained employees, helping them reach managerial positions. He was active in his community, serving on various boards and commission.

“Harold McCraw came to the Post Office to build a career and serve his community,” said Bay-Valley District Manager Robert Reynosa. “The fact that a lifelong resident who dedicated his life to the service of his community and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him makes this honor especially fitting. A Post Office is the cornerstone of communities all across America, and Harold McCraw was the cornerstone of his community.”
